Abstract:
The key focus in project A2 is the investigation of the reactivity of mono- and polynuclear vanadium-oxide ions with some selected model substrates (propane, methanol, C4-hydrocarbons). To this end, modern mass spectrometric methods, kinetic modeling, labeling techniques, and computational chemistry are used. In addition to completion of the work on mononuclear VOn+/- ions and continuation of the reactivity studies with VmOn+/- clusters, selected oxide-ions of other transition metals will be addressed. With regard to the oxidation of hydrocarbons, cationic MmOn+ systems appear of particular interest. Further studies will also include more complex transition-metal oxides such as the ternary oxide cluster VPO4+.
