Abstract:

The aim of this sub-project is the microscopic understanding of the electronic structure of transition metal oxides in terms of expanded surfaces and deposited clusters with respect to their catalytic behavior. To achieve this, the unoccupied electronic states which are due to the transition metals will be experimentally investigated angle-resolved by combined photoemission and inverse photoemission and angle-integrated by x-ray absorption spectroscopy. We will start with vanadium oxides of different oxidation states and proceed with oxides of molybdenum and niobium.
